Getting started

Set up Stripe Terminal for in-person donations

Set up in-person donations by completing Stripe Connect, creating a terminal location, ordering hardware, and registering the reader in Donations > Terminals.

You need manager write access to Donations. Terminals are available only in countries where Stripe Terminal is supported. Confirm availability in Is Masjidbox Donations available in my country?.

Complete your Stripe Connect account

A validated Stripe Connect account is required before you can use Donations features that depend on Stripe, including terminals.

  1. Open Donations in the dashboard sidebar.

  2. If setup is incomplete, finish the embedded Stripe Connect onboarding on the Donations home page.

  3. Use the tips shown under Tips for completing your setup:

    • Fill in all required details accurately to avoid delays in account verification.

    • Have your bank account details (IBAN) ready for payout configuration.

    • For French non-profit associations without a SIREN number, use 000000000 as the SIREN.

    • Contact support from live chat if you need help during setup.

  4. After onboarding, open Donations > Documents when you need tax forms or verification documents for your Stripe Connect account.

  5. To update pending account requirements later, open Donations > Settings. Stripe collects eventually due fields and future requirements there.

In the United States, non-profit status may be required for certain Stripe features. Contact Masjidbox support if verification fails.

If your organization still uses the older Donations setup, Terminals may show Action required: Upgrade to the new Masjidbox Donations. Choose Migrate or Continue Migration, then finish Stripe setup before ordering hardware.

Create your default location

Every terminal is tied to a default location used for in-person donations.

  1. Go to Donations > Terminals.

  2. If no location exists yet, choose Start Now.

  3. On Create Default Location, enter:

    • Address

    • City

    • State / Province

    • Postal Code

  4. Submit the form. Masjidbox creates the location and returns you to the terminals list.

You can edit the location later from Terminals settings under Physical Address.

Order terminal hardware

Order a Stripe reader from Terminals. Masjidbox intermediates the order; Stripe fulfills and ships the hardware.

  1. In Donations > Terminals, choose Order Terminal.

  2. If organization billing name or address is missing, complete billing details first. You return to the order flow afterward.

  3. On Order Terminal Hardware, complete the steps in order:

    • Hardware — choose the reader and any accessories

    • Shipping — enter shipping contact and address

    • Delivery — choose a shipping method

    • Review — confirm the order

    • Payment — pay for the order

  4. After a successful payment, the return page shows Payment successful.

Hardware options include:

  • Stripe Reader S700 — Android smart reader with a 5.5" touchscreen for countertop donations with chip, tap, and swipe support.

  • Stripe Reader S710 — same as the S700 with built-in 4G/LTE connectivity for locations without Wi‑Fi. Stripe deducts a monthly cellular data fee per reader from your Stripe account balance.

Accessories listed in the catalog include a dock, case, and USB cable for S700/S710, plus an Ethernet hub for wired network connections.

Orders are processed manually by the Masjidbox team. Stripe handles fulfillment and shipping. An invoice is sent after submission. For hardware and monthly fees, see How much does a donation terminal cost and what are the fees? and View Stripe S700 Terminal pricing.

Register the terminal

After the device arrives, link it to your account with the registration code provided with the terminal.

  1. Go to Donations > Terminals.

  2. Choose Add Terminal, or select Pair a Terminal / Connect an existing terminal.

  3. On Register New Terminal, enter:

    • Terminal Label (for example, a name for the entrance or hall)

    • Registration Code from the terminal

  4. Submit the form. The terminal is added to your list with a status such as Registered, Active, Offline, or Decommissioned.

If you have reached the maximum number of terminals on your subscription, Masjidbox shows Terminal limit reached. Users who can manage billing can choose Add more terminals to update the plan. Other users need an administrator to upgrade.

Configure the terminal after registration

Open a terminal from the list to manage label, campaigns, PIN, and recurring settings.

  • Edit Terminal — update Terminal Label, assign Assigned Campaigns, or turn on Disable recurring payments on this terminal.

  • Change PIN — set a 5-digit PIN Code for the terminal.

  • Upload your mosque logo from Terminals Settings > Logo so it appears on the reader during donations. See How to add your logo on Masjidbox Terminal.

  • Enable recurring donations on terminals from Donations > Terminals > Settings > Recurring Payments. See Configure recurring donation scheduling.

If country availability, ordering, registration, or terminal status blocks setup, see Troubleshoot Stripe Terminal setup and orders.
