Set up Gift Aid auto-claim (UK)
Connect your HMRC Government Gateway credentials in Gift Aid Settings so Masjidbox can submit Gift Aid claims automatically for your UK charity.
Gift Aid is available only when your organization country is the United Kingdom (GB). You need a validated Donations account and write permission to change Gift Aid Settings.
Who can use Gift Aid
Gift Aid menu items appear only for organizations set to the United Kingdom (GB). Non-UK organizations see the message Gift Aid is only available for UK charities.
Campaign settings can include a Gift Aid Activation option. This article covers organization-level auto-claim setup, not campaign creation.
Open Gift Aid Settings
Open the Gift Aid Auto-Claim Settings page from Donations.
In the left sidebar, go to Donations.
Open Gift Aid Settings (or open Gift Aid, then use the auto-claim setup path from the banner).
The page title is Gift Aid Auto-Claim Settings. The description is Configure HMRC credentials and automatic Gift Aid claim submissions. Use Back to Dashboard to leave the settings flow.
Setup follows credentials first, then configuration, then optional Small Donations (GASDS). When credentials already exist, you land on the dashboard view of these settings.
Add HMRC credentials
Enter your Government Gateway credentials and verify the connection before you configure charity details.
On the HMRC Credentials step, enter your Government Gateway User ID and Government Gateway Password. Both fields are required.
Click Save & Test Connection.
On success, you see Credentials saved and verified successfully. The first time you connect, setup continues to the configuration step.
Your Government Gateway credentials are used to connect to HMRC Charities Online for automatic Gift Aid claims. These credentials are securely encrypted and stored.
Configure charity and automatic submissions
After credentials exist, enable HMRC integration and fill in charity and authorised official details.
Turn on Enable HMRC Integration.
Under Charity Details, complete the required fields: HMRC Charity Reference, Charity Name, Charity Regulator, and Registration Number.
Under Authorised Official, complete the required fields: Title, First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, and Postcode. These are the details of the person authorised to make Gift Aid claims on behalf of the charity.
Under Automatic Claims, turn on Enable Automatic Submissions to configure automatic weekly submission of Gift Aid claims to HMRC.
Save your settings. On success, you see Settings saved successfully and return to the dashboard view.
All charity, authorised official, and automatic-claims fields shown while HMRC integration is enabled are required.
Optional: configure Small Donations (GASDS)
The Small Donations section (Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme) appears only when HMRC integration is enabled.
Open the Small Donations settings.
Set Enable GASDS, Auto-track small donations, and Annual limit (£) as needed. The annual limit must be 0 or greater and within the product’s allowed range.
Save. On success, you see GASDS settings saved successfully.
GASDS limit is based on 10× your Gift Aid claims. Claim more Gift Aid to increase your GASDS allowance.
Download the Gift Aid CSV
Export Gift Aid records from the Gift Aid list as a CSV file.
In Donations, open Gift Aid.
Click Download all.
Your browser downloads a CSV file named giftaid- followed by the date and .csv.
This Gift Aid export is separate from French tax receipts (reçus fiscaux). For that export path, see How to export your donation tax receipts list.
Gift Aid status banners
On the Gift Aid page (GB organizations only), the status banner reflects your auto-claim setup.
Not configured: Title Automate Your Gift Aid Claims. Description: Save time by setting up automatic HMRC submissions. Connect your Government Gateway account to claim Gift Aid directly from your dashboard. CTA Set up Auto-Claim opens Gift Aid Settings.
Credentials issue (invalid or expired): Please review your HMRC credentials. Status rows show Credentials / Issue, Auto-Submit Enabled or Disabled, and Small Donations Enabled or Disabled.
Auto-submit off: Credentials are connected but auto-submit is disabled.
Fully configured: Gift Aid Auto-Claim is fully configured and active.
Status filters and stats appear only when auto-claim credentials are configured. HMRC row statuses can include pending, pending_review, invalid, on_hold, submitted, accepted, rejected, error, and refunded. A pending_review row was edited by a manager and is awaiting approval before submission.
If the banner reports a credentials issue, return to Gift Aid Settings, re-enter your Government Gateway User ID and Password, and click Save & Test Connection again.
