Masjidbox
Getting started

Can I run Masjidbox on Windows?

Masjidbox Screens does not support Windows PCs or PC-based emulators. The platform is designed for dedicated hardware to ensure stable, long-term operation.

Windows OS and Raspberry Pi emulators running on PCs may appear to work initially, but features like smooth video playback and offline mode are unstable on these setups.

Why Windows isn't supported

Masjidbox Screens require native hardware for reliable 24/7 operation in mosque environments. Windows PCs and emulators lack the optimizations needed for features like automatic startup, offline prayer times, and seamless display management.

Switch to one of the officially supported devices for a stable experience:

  • Masjidbox Player — Purpose-built device with full offline support and automatic startup

  • Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 — Affordable hardware using custom Masjidbox OS

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick — Budget-friendly option for online use

  • Google Chromecast (3rd gen) — Simple setup for basic displays

  • Android TV boxes — Compatible models like Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield

See which device to use for Masjidbox Screens for detailed comparisons and pricing. If you choose Raspberry Pi, follow How to install a Raspberry Pi to set up the custom OS.
